As part of Joe's own love of art, he has many friends who he admired as fellow artists. One being his close friend and Sheffield legend George Cunningham.
The late George Cunningham is probably Sheffields second most famous artist after Joe himself and the two were friends and rivals until George’s death in 1996.
George Cunningham was born on September 3rd 1924 on the corner of Michael Road. He lived in and walked the streets of Sheffield and more importantly Broomhall.
He was an artist who loved painting the streets and characters of anywhere he encountered which these pages will celebrate.
The archive we now own consists of hundred of items including original sketches and water colours and includes writings, diaries and notations by the artist.
