Boston Drains Pike - Original Oil Painting on Canvas

Boston Drains Pike
Boston Drains Pike. Oil on canvas. 20” x 30”
“I heard on Radio 4 that Poet Laureate Ted Hughes had written two poems about pike and I recalled hearing two men in a pub saying that a huge pike had been caught in Boston Drains years ago. The pub in the painting is the White Lion at Heeley in Sheffield and before some smart Alec points out that the N in Windsor is back to front, it wasn’t me but the glaziers who got it wrong. It’s still there if you don’t believe me. It’s the first and only fish I’ve painted in 60 years.”
